Sinusitis can occur due to many factors.

Wear mufflers and overcoats in outdoors for extra protection.
Sip some herbal teas for relaxation and relief from the congestion. They calm you from inside out.
Have fruits and vegetables which naturally have plenty of antioxidants and anti - inflammatory properties.
Wear mask in outdoors as the pollution and pollens might make condition worse.
Have plenty water and stay hydrated always.
Apply hot packs over places like forehead i.e., above eyebrows and above upper lip, if you are having pain in those areas due to accumulation of mucous in those sinuses.
Give yourself a gentle massage to your face when there is heavy feeling over head and pain in the regions of sinuses.

Don'ts
Avoid dairy products as they will thicken your mucous and makes it difficult for you to blow it out.
Avoid cold food and cold drinks ,they make your situation even worse.
Try to stay indoors when it is cold outside.
Avoid caffeine ,smoking and alcohol as they dehydrate your body and makes the mucous thicker.
When the nose is blocked don't blow your nose too hard as it might lead to epistaxis. Use saline nasal rinse or decongestants to get relief.
Avoid junk and processed food these doesn't give you any extra benefits but drain you even more.
Avoid using things like vicks vaporub as sometimes they might irritate the passages. Some might not find them soothing instead they get irritated with such kind strong smelling things.

Sinusitis is something which is recurrent, even though you go for surgery or you take plenty of antibiotics,it will definitely reoccur. So the most you can do is change your lifestyle accordingly and eat which suits you better and which doesn't.
