We don't give attention to our eating habits unless we suffer from something. from then we try to improve lifestyle and but we gradually quit because it is hard to stay motivated . Only few stay consistent with their diet and stay mindful of what they eat. We eat either too much or we eat less than required.
i'm gonna share with you few tips which helps you to eat healthy without following any fancy diet plans and all. personally for me diet nothing but eating healthy. we don't need to plan or get motivated to make few changes in our eating habits. yes of course some sort of efforts are definitely needed to change few habits.
Habits which ruin our health
Eating late in the night
with our work schedules we may be habituated for eating late in the night. even though when eat early, we crave for something late in the night. we should not eat atleast 3 hours before sleep. if you feel hungry having snacks nuts like pistachios cashews or seeds are better options for late nights.
Having excess water in middle of the meal
having water in muddle of the meal can make the digestion process slow as water dilutes the acids in the stomach . we can have few sips of water in middle of the meals. the best time to have water is half an hour before meals and 2 hours after meals. having sodas or other sugary drinks with your meals is not so good habit.
Skipping meals
by skipping meals we do no good to the body. when you feel hungry you crave for more junk or processed food. when you skip a meal you will have more food in the next meal . so having regular meals and having few healthy options for snacking in between the meals is a better option. having meals late or not setting proper time for your meals is another drawback for your overall wellness. this may lead to bloating ,overeating or craving for unhealthy foods.
Having artificial and processed food
we have many processed foods in our kitchens without knowing. foods like refined white sugar, white rice , refined oils, instant coffee, all purpose flour, white bread etc. the nutritional values in these foods are very less. having junk food and processed foods give high glucose spike with no additional nutrients. replacing them with fruits vegetables is a better option. these junk foods gives you immediate dopamine spikes and makes you crave for them quiet often.
Eating continuously in between meals
i see some people they eat continuosly without giving break. even our digestive system needs break to function properly . when you overeat you may end up with indigestion and vomitings. giving time for digestive system is also very important. binge eating is another thing which is to be shown concern , you just sit with chips crackers or something to watch a movie. you eat just for timepass. eating consciously will make you realise your mistakes.
Having combinations of food which are not good for health
there are few combinations of food which are not to be consumed together. some are curd and fish, spinach with tomatoes , jaggery and curd , fruits with milk etc . like this few foods are not supposed to be consumed together.
Not having enough water
having water in middle of the meals is not a good thing. but having water in regular intervals is the most crucial thing. not only for proper digestion but also for overall functioning of the body. not having enough water may also dehydrate your body.
Not having balanced portions
proteins carbohydrates and fibre are the main nutrients required for our body so they need to be balance in every single meal. balancing meals every single time is not possible sometimes so compensating them in the next meal is a better thing to do. make your plate look colourful with differnt types of food so that the food doesn't look boring even though it si healthy. healthy is not boring always.
Having sugary or salty foods
having sugary foods gives you glucose spikes and sugary foods doesn't contain any additional nutrients so avoiding them and replacing them with healthy options is better thing to do. salty foods are not healthy options again excess salt consumption leads to blood pressure , obesity, heart issues etc. sugary foods also turn into addiction at some point as they give dopamine spike easily. not buying them in grocery stores and not bringing them home . replacing them with healthy options like nuts ,seeds,fruits etc.
Last but not least alcohol and smoking
everyone knows about the hazardous effects of alcohol and smoking. but we overlook the hazardous part and we include them in our lifestyle with no regrets. we have them for fun but in long run they take away our quality of life.
